w7lko Events

The Elko Amateur Radio Club participates in many events from providing local communications and demonstrations to international contests.

Keep an eye on the calendar for upcoming events.

Field Day

Field day is always held during the 4th full weekend in June. It is an international contest where operators try to contact as many areas as possible with bonus points for operating with restrictions. The Elko Amateur Radio Club typically operates on solar and batteries with portable antenna systems in a public space so that the public can see and often operate our stations.

Skywarn recognition day

Skywarn is a program from the National Weather Service that has volunteers reporting conditions and emergencies during adverse weather and storms. On Skywarn recognition day we set up stations at the Elko NWS building in order to communicate with other weather stations as well as other amateur radio operators. This is on the first Saturday in December.
